The use of music can have a powerful effect on the human body, especially when it comes to a person’s health. There have been several recent studies that show music affects a person’s mood and reduces stress levels. This in turn stimulates the body to produce endorphins and other positive enzymes that have been found to improve a person’s ability to ward off illness. Naturally, this should also have a positive effect on the workplace by reducing absenteeism due to sickness.

One study measured the strength of the immune system in a group of university students before and after they listened to 30 minutes of music designed to make them either sad or happy. The students’ immune system was 20% stronger after listening to music. Interestingly, it did not matter if the music was happy or sad, they both had a strong positive effect on each student’s immune system.

Another study showed the remarkable power of music in fighting cancer. Here, the doctors examined 182 patients with malignant tumours. 54 patients were given the standard radiation or chemotherapy. 86 patients were given music therapy only. The remaining 42 people were given both courses of treatment.

The music group where given specially selected music to play quietly for 30 minutes a day for 15 days. The scientists measured various levels of anxiety or depression as well as physical measures of, “subgroups of T lymphocytes and activity of natural killer cells,” before and after music sessions.

The results were astonishing. The music group scored better in all areas over the group that had received the standard chemo and radiation only treatment. The inescapable conclusion is that background music can assist in the treatment of both the psychological and physiological ramifications of cancer.

Clearly music is a powerful tool that can be used by doctors, clinics and hospitals alike. Imagine how beneficial it can be in your workplace. Healthy workers are more productive workers, and that can lead to an improved bottom line.

1 – Moto Toddington Services (M1): The first one we pass when leaving London but also the one that means we’re close to home. This is also DJ IQ’s favourite service station by a country mile.
2 – Extra MSA Cambridge Services (A14): McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut and M&S. The food connoisseur’s choice of service station.
3 – Moto Thurrock Services (M25): M&S plus a WHSmith so we can grab Nuts magazine and the Daily Sport.
4 – Welcome Break Birchanger Green Services (M11): KFC and a Waitrose. A Zinger followed by a portion of fruit. The best of both.
5 – Welcome Break Newport Pagnell Services (M1): Post Mobos. Ed Drewett, a bottle of Cava and a teaspoon. Nuff said.
6 – Moto Donington Park Services (M1) – Great family vibe particularly around Download weekend.
7 – Welcome Break Telford Services (M54): Love the architecture of this place plus the Steam Hammer exhibit in the picnic area adds a bit of history to the place.
8 – Moto Stafford Services Northbound (M6): Just beats RoadChef Stafford Services Southbound by a Burger King. Sometimes it’s as simple as that.
9 – Moto Scotch Corner Services (A1M): Reputation precedes this place. Light on the offerings but makes up for it with a great children’s playground.
10 – RoadChef Watford Gap Services (M1): Good for a cheeky coffee. Costa now do a flat white I’ll have you know.

If riding rollercoasters and nibbling on candyfloss sounds like your idea of a superb day out, then a visit to Alton Towers is just what you want. There’s something for everybody, from the looping Stealth and brand spanking new 13 ride to much lighter rides for children. Thorpe Park, Drayton Estate and Chessington sector of journeys are other prize winning theme parks which you are also certain to enjoy. If theme parks are not your mug of tea there also are many fantastic wildlife days out waiting to be uncovered. There are plenty of zoos and safari parks dotted around England, including Monkey World, London Zoo and Chester Zoo as well as many state of the art aquariums. There is often a major event going on at Chester Zoo, and spring is not an exception ; you will find themed activities and walks, exclusive tours and more.

There are over four thousand wonderful animals from four hundred different species to find out more about and begin to know. Britain is graced with many great wildlife attractions, so if you are unable to make it to Chester do some research regionally to find your nearest attraction.

If you do not fancy spending too much cash, there is usually England’s stunning shore to explore. Spring is the perfect time for a day out at the beach. Though the temperatures of the summer months have not really arrived you may beat the crowds and have masses of space to enjoy.

Scotland is a component country that’s part of the UK. As well as the mainland, Scotland includes over 790 islands including the Northwards Isles and the Hebrides. Edinburgh, the nations’s capital and 2nd largest town, is one of Europe’s biggest finance centers. Edinburgh was the center of the Scottish Enlightenment of the eighteenth century, which transformed Scotland into one of the commercial, intellectual and business powerhouses of Europe. Glasgow, Scotland’s biggest town, was once one of the world’s leading economic towns and now lies at the center of the Larger Glasgow conurbation. Scottish waters consist of a massive world of the North Atlantic and the North Sea, containing the biggest oil reserves in the EU Union. This has given Aberdeen, the 3rd biggest city in Scotland, the title of Europe’s oil capital.

The Dominion of Scotland was an independent sovereign state before one May 1707 when it entered into a political union with the Dominion of England to form the UK of Great Britain. This union resulted from the Bargain of Union concluded in 1706 and passed by the twin Acts of Union passed by the Parliaments of both countries, regardless of far-reaching protest across Scotland. Scotland’s legal system remains separate from those of Britain , Wales, and Northerly Eire and Scotland still constitutes a definite jurisdiction in public and in private law. The ongoing existence of legal, academic and spiritual establishments distinct from those in what’s left of the United Kingdom have all made a contribution to the continuation of Scottish culture and nationwide identity since the Union. Though Scotland isn’t a new sovereign state, issues surrounding devolution and autonomy continue to be discussed. After the making of the devolved Scottish Parliament in 1999, the 1st ever pro-independence Scottish State was voted in in 2007 when the Scottish State Party formed a minority administration.

Moving into a care home should not affect the mobility component of your Disability Living Allowance. It will also be disregarded when your local council are calculating how much you should contribute towards the cost of your care. If the NHS is funding your care home fees, both the care component and the mobility component of your DLA may be affected. Your local council will help you find care homes in Scotland to satisfy your requirements, or the Commission for Social Care Inspection has a catalogue of all registered care homes in Britain. Charities that offer support for certain disabilities can be exceedingly helpful and may have catalogues of care homes that offer specialized support and experienced staff.

An significant consideration when you’re selecting a care home is whether you want one that offers nursing as well as private care.

Justin Bieber, the 16-year-old singer – who has just been named in Folks magazine’s ‘World’s Most Lovely ‘ list – was asked by the publication to share his hair strategies. “I spend 5 mins on it. I use shampoo, conditioner – fundamentally whatever is in the hotel – and blowdry. I cut it each time I’ve got a Television appearance, or when my mummy announces it is too long, ” he declared. Nonetheless the ‘Baby’ star went on to assert that he doesn’t need to be outlined by his special cut, explaining : “Your hair doesn’t make you who you are. Its an element of my image, it is not who I am. ” an editorial in the NY Times exposed that Bieber’s side-swept hair has turned into a preferred style with teen boys, though one stylist recommended that they were “embarrassed ” to without delay name the vocalist when they requested his glance at the salon. “He is a teenager heartthrob that girls love, ” explained Snug Friedman, who owns Cozy’s Cuts For Children in Manhattan. “they do not want to be linked with that. “.

If you still aren’t satisfied with all these choices, then you can always take a look at Polmont Farm Dry Ski Centre.

The slate islands in Scotland are celebrated for their black sand beaches and up till 1965 were key sources of Slate in Scotland, with slate from the island of Luing being used for the development of buildings eg the Varsity of Glasgow and Iona Abbey.

Luing particularly is a well-liked traveller spot and counts tourism as one of its main industries along side lobster fishing and beef farming.

The primary draw of the Scottish Slate Islands is the calm and tranquil atmosphere ; it is way more relaxing than any 2 weeks in a very crowded, loud hotel in Spain for sure! The explanation for why it is more relaxing is that many of the accommodation options available are self-catering cottages or hired homes, meaning you are not sharing with loads of people and can truly enjoy your time apart from working life. When staying on Luing you will have the ideal chance to forget all of the stress and pressure of normal life as these tiny islands are occasionally considered a step back in time : there aren’t any Starbucks on each street corner and endless shopping centers which you will without doubt be satisfied to see the back of for one or two days. This isn’t to assert that vacations on the Slate isles is slow paced and behind the times, a long way from it, you can make of it what you may by joining in activities like cycling, windsurfing and fishing to keep you busy as well as the famous whirlpool at Corriewreckan preferred for taking the odd Rib Ride down.

Chris Tarrant has agreed to appear on BBC Radio two later on in the month for a week-long cover stint on Steve Wright’s afternoon show. From May seventeen to twenty-one, the who needs to Be A Millionaire host will take over the Steve Wright In The Afternoon daily program from 2pm to 5pm.

Tarrant was a regular fixture on the London radio scene from 1987 to 2004 as presenter of the Capital Radio Breakfast Show. Last December, he also joined vocalist and tunesmith Nik Kershaw to present the Great English Songbook Of The Eighties on Radio two.

“Steve Wright has been a great chum of mine for at least 25 years, ” expounded Tarrant. “he has been doing great radio for so long as I can remember and it’s a genuine thrill to take over his show for one week while the distinguished old man takes a well-earned holiday.”.

Radio two head of programming Lewis Carnie added : “Chris is among the UK’s most innovative and much-loved broadcasters and I am delighted that he’s got a week-long stint in the afternoon hot seat to amuse over 6,000,000 listeners.”. Yesterday, Graham Norton started a fortnight-long cover stint for Chris Evans on Radio 2’s breakfast show.

The Culture, Media and Sport Board announced remote areas could struggle to pick up the digital signal and disagreed that local stations should be permitted to keep the FM bandwidth. Without the exemption for agricultural areas, popular stations like Classic FM could lose eighteen percent of their listeners.

According to the report, ‘Future for local and regional media’, the price of bringing DAB coverage to the same levels as FM in outlying areas could cost £150 million.

Normal AM and FM radio signals will be switched off under govt plans to make digital radio the first format for broadcasts. Radio stations are ready to move to DAB format by the end of 2015 under a timetable outlined in the Government’s Digital Britain White Paper last June. Now , DAB coverage reaches about ninety percent of the people but is intensely patchy in mountainous areas like Snowdonia in Wales and the Top District in Britain . FM coverage, in the meantime, runs at more than ninety nine per cent. Campaigners have disagreed the aged and exposed and those living in remote rustic areas could get left behind. MPs on the council further said the Office of Fair Trading should analyze the impact of town hall-funded freesheets on local papers. John Whittingdale, the Tory boss man, expounded the industry faced “remarkable challenges”.

On the way forward for ITV’s regional stories, the board related the circumstances are at risk of reaching a “crisis point ” that might imperil the plurality of regional TV stories. It commends removing or reducing ITV’s public service broadcasting requirements so that it can offer regional reports. The broadcaster has asserted it is not affordable for ITV to supply regional stories and it has cut its £120 million regional reports budget by a 3rd. Last month, a communication discovered that the general public can’t see the point in purchasing a digital radio and are satisfied with FM sets and some digital listeners have complained of poor sound quality and frequent signal interruptions.
