Chris Tarrant has agreed to appear on BBC Radio two later on in the month for a week-long cover stint on Steve Wright’s afternoon show. From May seventeen to twenty-one, the who needs to Be A Millionaire host will take over the Steve Wright In The Afternoon daily program from 2pm to 5pm.

Tarrant was a regular fixture on the London radio scene from 1987 to 2004 as presenter of the Capital Radio Breakfast Show. Last December, he also joined vocalist and tunesmith Nik Kershaw to present the Great English Songbook Of The Eighties on Radio two.

“Steve Wright has been a great chum of mine for at least 25 years, ” expounded Tarrant. “he has been doing great radio for so long as I can remember and it’s a genuine thrill to take over his show for one week while the distinguished old man takes a well-earned holiday.”.

Radio two head of programming Lewis Carnie added : “Chris is among the UK’s most innovative and much-loved broadcasters and I am delighted that he’s got a week-long stint in the afternoon hot seat to amuse over 6,000,000 listeners.”.
